How to Disable a Roam Smart Finder
A Roam Smart Finder can be disabled to stop it from sharing its location. Once disabled, it will no longer report to the Apple Find My network, and the owner will no longer receive updates on its location.
If you receive a message on your iOS device that a Roam Smart Finder has been detected nearby and you’re not familiar with it, you can make it play a sound from the system notification.
After locating the item, follow the steps below to disable it. The owner will no longer receive location updates, and it will no longer trigger unknown tracker alerts.
Method 1: Removing the Battery
- Hold the bottom compartment and turn it counter-clockwise until it unscrews and opens.
- Remove the compartment and the old battery.
- Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Place the bottom compartment back and rotate it clockwise while gently pushing until it tightens and the rotation stops.
Method 2: Using the Button
- Press the Roam button once.
- Press it again and hold for 10 seconds.
- Continue holding and release after the 10th beep.
- A confirmation sound will indicate the Roam has been disabled.
To Re-enable Roam
Simply press the button again, or reinsert the battery. You will hear a sound confirming that Roam is active.
- Choosing a selection results in a full page refresh.
- Opens in a new window.
